VNS Therapy

Neuromodulation for drug-resistant epilepsy.

Everything about VNS Therapy in the Nordics in one place: what it is, where clinicians find manuals, forms and materials, and documents and videos for patients and families.

The therapy

A pacemaker for the brain.

Around one in three people with epilepsy continue to have seizures despite medication. For this group, Vagus Nerve Stimulation is a well-tested, long-term neuromodulation treatment. The implanted generator sends regular electrical impulses through the vagus nerve to the brain, much like a pacemaker, with the goal of preventing seizures, reducing their intensity and shortening recovery.

The current generator, SenTiva, adds scheduled titration, day-and-night programming and long-term trend data, so clinics can reach target therapy with fewer office visits.

VNS Therapy explained, in three languages.

An introduction, how it works, and the benefits. Choose a language.

VNS Therapy is designed to stop seizures, so you can focus on what is important: more seizure-free moments. When drugs alone cannot give the control you deserve, it is time to consider other options. Benefits may include fewer, shorter and less severe seizures, faster recovery, fewer medications, and improved alertness, mood and memory. Individual results vary.
